Razer Nabu Watch Is Not Quite a Smartwatch

Don't call it a smartwatch: Razer this week introduced its Nabu Watch, a full-featured digital timepiece with smart capabilities.

CES 2022 Bug Art The black-and-neon-dark-green device comes with a secondary screen that previews smartphone notifications and tracks fitness and slumber activity.

While 2022 marked the yr of the smartwatch, many devices still struggle with lasting battery life and lack what Razer called "capability equally a multi-office watch."

To address those issues, Razer is taking a different approach: digital chronograph equally a primary office, and smart features every bit secondary add-on.

"We're bringing together the reliability and incredible functionality of a digital timepiece, with added smart features to empower the tech enthusiasts of today," Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said in a statement. "We're also just actually excited to create a digital sentry that we're proud to call our ain."

The Nabu Sentry includes traditional features like a backlit display, countdown timer, stopwatch, world time clocks, and alarms, promising a 12-month lifespan via the replaceable coin-cell bombardment. Add to that a secondary screen with seven days of rechargeable battery life and Bluetooth capabilities to runway daily steps and receive notifications but like your smartwatch-toting friends.

Pair the timepiece with your smartphone to stream calls, texts, emails, and app alerts to your wrist. Plus, a built-in accelerometer counts steps walked, altitude traveled, calories burned, and more.

Razer also snuck in a unique watch-to-watch adequacy, which lets two users exchange Facebook and Twitter data via a elementary handshake; the characteristic works interchangeably between any Nabu Spotter, Nabu, and Nabu X.

The Razer Nabu Watch comes in two variations: The $149.99 standard edition (pictured)—built with tough polycarbonate and greenish highlights—goes on sale later this calendar month. Meanwhile, the $199.99 Forged Edition—with its stainless steel buttons and blackness finish—is on sale now at RazerStore brick-and-mortar and online shops.
